In our sixth year of “The Children of WunderGlo Scholarship Program”, our 2023 student applicants touched our hearts and brought us great hope for the future of the world. The Gloria Borges WunderGlo Foundation once again made the decision to step outside of our “scope” by awarding a total of Six (6) WunderGlo Scholarships to this year’s outstanding young men and women who graduated high school this year. Our 2022 scholarship recipients are comprised of four (4) students who each lost their father to colon cancer when they were ages 9-17, and two (2) students who lost their mothers when they were only ages 9 and 11. Three of the parents who passed away were part of The WunderGlo Foundation as Wunder’s Warriors: Carlyle Dorroh, Mark Rizzo, and Patsy Petzold.
WunderGlo awarded Three (3) $4,000 Scholarships, and Three (3) Recognition Scholarships in the amount of $1,000.00.
We are beyond grateful to the family of Deborah Rachel Goldberg for their financial support to our WunderGlo Scholarship program this year, which increased our 2023 monetary award budget by $6,000 with their generous donation.

Charlotte Dorroh is a compassionate, brilliant, and grateful young woman who is attending Georgia College.
“After losing my mom at the age of nine, I was faced with many new obstacles to overcome. A person does not know the pain of losing a parent until it turns into their new reality. Growing up without a mother is the hardest struggle, but it has taught me a new understanding. Although cancer took a huge part of myself, it also shaped me into who I am and who I hope to become. I’m working hard to not only make my mom proud,
but to also make a difference in the world. The Gloria Borges Children of WunderGlo Scholarship honors and supports those who have dealt with the effects of losing a parent to cancer, while also reminding us that we are not alone. The WunderGlo Foundation has been a part of my life since my mom’s diagnosis, and I have looked up to the Foundation as a whole while growing up. I believe this organization is not just a group of people, but a family.”– Charlotte Dorroh

passed on to me. Thank you so much for helping me pursue this dream! Ava Rispler is a vibrant and caring young lady who is attending The University of South Florida.
“A dad is one to protect his daughter from everything, and I was always daddy’s little girl. Before I knew it, all the memories I had with him were gone. His hair was falling out, he was unable to move, and he wasn’t the same father that I remembered. I watched my father die from stage-4 colon cancer when I was 15. My father’s dream was to see my brother and I live our lives to the fullest, including getting the
most of our education. My father was part of a family business and loved being an entrepreneur. This is where I get my passion for Business. I greatly appreciate The Gloria Borges WunderGlo Foundation for supporting kids like me, who have seen cancer and its devastation. I can only hope that through preventative care and cancer treatments that other kids never have to experience seeing their parent suffer and lose their life to this terrible disease. Although my dad’s passing has been very traumatic, I am grateful to connect with WunderGlo and gain so many opportunities for my future. Because of him, I can receive this scholarship. I thank you for helping me and other kids during the worst part of their lives. “– Ava Rispler
