The Gloria Borges WunderGlo Foundation Exceeds One Million Dollars

In Funding Research to Cure Colorectal Cancer; Launches

Signature Chocolate Bar to Commemorate 5th Year Anniversary

Los Angeles, CA – Gloria Borges is the founder of The WunderGlo Foundation whose mission is to eradicate colorectal cancer, save lives, and provide patient support to empower cancer warriors everywhere. Gloria was an attorney at the Los Angeles based O’Melveny & Myers LLP and was on the path towards partnership when she was sideswiped with Stage-4 Colon Cancer at age 28, with no symptoms or family history. Gloria’s inspirational journey embodied her mantra to “Love Life” and “Be Grateful” for every day, regardless of life’s obstacles. After her untimely passing in January 2014, at age 32, Gloria’s legacy, spirit and vision lives on through The WunderGlo Foundation under the leadership of her Mother, Rebecca Keller, who carries the goals, responsibilities, and Mission to Fight On.

Since 2012, The Gloria Borges WunderGlo Foundation has donated over One Million Dollars to Colorectal Cancer Research to help fund “The Cure”. Dr. Heinz-Josef Lenz, M.D., FACP, is the Associate Director for Adult Oncology and Co-Leader of the Gastrointestinal Cancers Program at USC Norris and is Co-Founder of The Wunder Project, the bold and progressive initiative launched by Gloria Borges in 2013. Every penny raised under The Wunder Project goes directly to cutting-edge research under the leadership of Lenz and Wunder Project’s “Dream Team”. Dr. Lenz, world renowned oncologist/researcher/clinician, focuses on topics including the regulation of gene expression involved in drug resistance, patients at high risk of developing colorectal cancer, determination of carcinogenesis, methods of early detection, and better surveillance of these cancers.

In celebration of their 5th Year Anniversary, One-Million Dollar funding Milestone and in honor of Gloria’s vision to promote a healthy mind, body and spirit, The WunderGlo Foundation has launched its health-conscious and delicious signature Chocolate Bar at Sweet! Hollywood. Since WunderGlo supports a vegan diet, their signature bar consists of Dark Chocolate, Roasted Almonds, Dried Blueberries (blue for colon cancer), Rice Krispies and Sea Salt. The WunderGlo Foundation receives $2 for each candy bar sold. You can purchase your WunderGlo candy bar at Sweet! Hollywood located in the Hollywood & Highland Center, 6801 Hollywood Blvd, Suite 201, L.A., CA 90028 or on-line at: www.sweetlosangeles.com, then click on Chocolate Bar Collections, Cause Candy

Seasons Greetings From the Gloria Borges WunderGlo Foundation

December 2016

Dear WunderGlo Supporter,

Amidst the holiday season that ushers in the end of 2016, we look back on this year with pride, gratitude, and reflection of the good-works and dreams that The WunderGlo Foundation continues to make a reality.

We celebrate our milestone 5th year anniversary as an organization and continue to lead the charge among our peers by surpassing the Million Dollar mark in grant funding research for the cure of colorectal cancer.

We are grateful for our ever-growing Foundation and are deeply grateful for the trust, belief, and support from each of you – our WunderGlo faithful.

Each day we keep in mind the incredible lives, both past and present; these are the people who we honor through our work. WunderGlo is more than just a cancer organization, – we are a family – one filled with love, laughter, hardships and gratitude. Please listen to our Cancer Warrior Award honoree, Julie Garrabrant, in her heartfelt acceptance speech.

In 2016 -The WunderGlo Foundation spread awareness and hope through successful events/campaigns; we supported patients and families throughout the country; we started an on-line support group called WunderGlo Chat; we launched a Reiki and Guided Meditation Program for all cancer patients & caregivers in Southern California and established a USC-Business Associate Relationship to provide Reiki on-site at USC-Norris & Keck Hospital; we attended ASCO-Chicago, the largest oncological conference in the world.

In celebrating our 5th year anniversary, WunderGlo is proud to have given over $1-Million Dollars to research for “the cure” of colorectal cancer, now becoming: “One Million Strong”. – And this is only the beginning.

We need your help to continue our mission. Will you support The WunderGlo Foundation with an end-of-year contribution to ensure our continued success?

With even bigger plans on the horizon, please know that we couldn’t do any of this without you. We have much to celebrate, yet more work to be done because we are not stopping until cancer does.

We are ultimately fighting to end all cancers. We fight for your family, both past and present, we fight for your children and grandchildren so that they may one day live in a cancer-free world, we fight for everyone both afflicted personally and emotionally by this disease. We ask you to fight alongside with us in honor of your personal heroes… for those who are battling today – for those who have yet to be diagnosed, and in honor of those who have gone before us.

Our collective success is only possible because of you, our generous donors.

Please continue to partner with us in our audacious fight against this deadly disease. In the spirit of giving during this holiday season, please support The WunderGlo Foundation by making your tax-deductible donation today.

In adopting her lesson to “Love Life”, we honor Gloria’s incredible life and legacy:

“There are plenty of things I want to be remembered by, but the easiest and simplest way to explain my goal for my legacy is this: I want people to know that I lived. I want the world to know that I lived. I’m talking about making a profound difference by my efforts, my thoughts, my relationships and by the sum total of all the breaths I took while roaming around this planet.”– Gloria Borges (Founder)- August 16, 2012

The Gloria Borges WunderGlo Foundation is making that profound difference.

We are deeply grateful for your wonderful support and belief in the all-important work that WunderGlo does. Together, we continue to make a great difference in this world.   Cancer, Your Time Is UP!

May you and your families enjoy a holiday season that is filled with celebrations, blessings, joy, and “Above all, with love”.

In Sincerity and Gratitude Always,

beckysig

Gloria Borges WunderGlo Foundation Announces New Reiki & Guided Meditation Program To Begin
December 7, 2015
We are proud to announce The Gloria Borges WunderGlo Foundation Reiki & Guided Meditation Program at USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. The WunderGlo Foundation will be offering Reiki and Guided Meditation services to all cancer patients at USC Norris. This evolving program will take place on the first Monday of every month with plans of expansion of services that will include the patients of Keck Hospital of USC. Please check this site for times, location, and program updates. Reiki focuses on the ancient technique of energy healing. Our founder, Gloria Borges, strongly believed in balancing the “mind, body, and spirit” through one’s cancer journey. Reiki and Guided Meditation can be incredibly helpful while going through chemo, preparing for surgery, and even while in the hospital immediately after surgery. Gloria’s Testimonial: “So much of this journey has been about my emotional and mental state; my attitude. I feel energized but peaceful, filled with vitality but centered and calm. It’s a pretty interesting feeling: feeling very energized without feeling jittery. Reiki is much better than caffeine, I’ll tell you that!”

The Gloria Borges WunderGlo Foundation Reiki & Guided Meditation Program will be under the direction of Reiki Master, Mr. Kevin Ackad. To learn more about this program, please plan on attending the introduction meeting December 7, 2015, Conference Room-1315; Ground Floor at USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, 1:00 pm (PST) After the introduction class in December, The Gloria Borges WunderGlo Foundation Reiki & Guided Meditation Program will officially begin on Monday, January 4, 2016 at 1:00 pm and will continue at the same time on the first Monday of every month, thereafter. WunderGlo Foundation gifts funding for The Wunder Project – research regarding genomic sequencing completed by Dr. Christina Curtis, Stanford University School of Medicine
March 2015
The Wunder Project supports the important research and urgent work of Dr. Curtis that is focused on characterizing the genomic determinants and dynamics of metastatic colorectal cancer towards the goal of earlier detection and intervention, as well as improved treatment stratification. A “Big Bang” model of colon cancer is challenging current thinking about how tumors grow. “Differences between tumor cells are pervasive,” Dr. Christina Curtis said, “yet the origins of these differences are poorly understood. What you see in the final cancer was there from the beginning.”
