JULIE GARRABRANT

Colorectal cancer became a part of Julie Garrabrant’s vocabulary when in 2010, at the age of 45, she was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer. You can read more of her story here in an article from Destination X Ride.

One of the reasons Julie feels strongly about advocating colorectal cancer is that, prior to diagnosis, she had no major symptoms or family history to alert her of the spreading disease. This was also the driving force in motivating her to attend Capitol Hill Day 2012 in Washington, D.C. as a patient advocate, just 2 months after a liver resection surgery. There, while Julie spoke with state representatives and shared her story, she had the pleasure of meeting in person the inspiring and motivational Gloria Borges of The WunderGlo Foundation.

This year, 2013, Julie celebrated 3 years of survival. She is honored to be a part of The Wunder Project and truly believes in finding a cure to this disease in our lifetime. She continues to squeeze every moment out of her life and encourages others to do the same.
