Our 5th Annual annette cook Cancer Warrior Awards Dinner and Silent Auction took place at the Hilton- Los Angeles on September 23, 2016. The Gloria Borges WunderGlo Foundation raised over $93,000 in funds that go directly to colon cancer research and awareness, and funding essential to our growing organization.

The night was both inspiring and fun – with over 200-people in attendance and a silent auction that offered over 175 wonderful and varied items, donated by over 120 organizations and individuals.

Our Cancer Warrior Honorees included: Stage IV colon cancer patient, Julie Garrabrant, whose gratitude-filled spirit faces every challenge with grace and humor; Phuong Ly Gallagher, a 37-year old, Stage-IV colorectal cancer survivor who has been “in the ring” for 9-years and is fearless when that bell rings again to go “another round”; Dr. Tom Marsilje, PhD, a prolific drug discovery scientist who brings hope and encouragement to “the masses” through his endless generosity of shared-knowledge. We honored a growing non-profit who supports “The Caregivers” – The Cocktails and Chemo Foundation and their inspirational founder–Amanda Clark.

We proudly awarded The Gloria Borges Life of Excellence Award in honor of the brilliant life of a great man, Dr. Robert Pastor – a leader-humanitarian, philanthropist, a man who created his own legacy and has left his unforgettable mark in history. This posthumous tribute was accepted by Dr. Pastor’s son, Kip Pastor.

We celebrated our milestone 5th Anniversary and proudly announced that The WunderGlo Foundation continues to lead the charge among our peers by surpassing the Million Dollar Mark in funding research for “the cure” of colorectal cancer, now becoming: “One Million Strong”. And this…is only the beginning.

We debuted the film for The Gloria Borges Reiki and Guided Meditation Program, launched in March 2016. We shared the success of this year’s events and campaigns, our presence at ASCO-Chicago, the largest oncological conference in the world, the launch of our on-line support group: “WunderGlo Chat”, and news of our Business-Associate Relationship with USC-Norris & Keck Hospital that will bring Reiki on campus.

Our Call-To-Action raised over $3,000 in honor of the lives- both past and present: Betty Williams, Antoinette Ackad, Felicia Federico, Gloria Borges, Ashlee Emerson Lambrix, Bob Pastor, Vivian Carmody, Mario Hernandez, Jerry Boyd, Leana Dabney, Larry Hernandez, Jessica Hargress, and Phuong Ly Gallagher.
