“Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think we are supposed to be and embracing who we are.” Brene Brown
Since the time we are young children we begin to learn about different jobs. A common question we are asked is “what do you want to be when you grow up?”
This leads to a confused belief that our occupation is somehow an extension of who we are and we must figure that out in order to have a life of purpose and meaning.
I am all about purpose and meaning – I believe in following your heart and getting to know yourself so that you can shine your light or share your gifts with the world.
It also makes sense that based on your personality and personal interests that certain vocations may be more aligned. This is why knowing yourself is one of the main tenets of my program and is incredibly helpful in discovering what fits you. This can sometimes lead to changes in career and lifestyle and sometimes not.
That being said, having a belief that there is one perfect career or one perfect person or one perfect location to live in is a farce. If that was the truth it would be an incredibly limiting truth and the truth is expansive not constricting.
Just like people can get lost in the one perfect soulmate ideal and spend a lifetime searching for the right one – people get lost in the one perfect career or role and spend a lifetime searching, switching, identifying and then feeling incomplete or not enough because they didn’t find it.
I invite you to take a deep breath and realize you are enough – whatever you are meant to be doing – you are doing and whatever you are meant for will find you and this exhausting and forceful search can go home and take a nap!
Your career won’t necessarily solve the puzzle piece of meaning you are searching for. That piece is in you and you can access it through your Self. This search is an inside job + one that I love to guide others towards – through working together you will gain the insight and clarity you need to feel a sense of purpose in your life.
Ideal’s are healthy until they are not. Goals are healthy until they are not because we often lose sight of the present.
What is more important then? Exploring, trying, learning, falling, getting back up and moving forward. This is probably what you are already doing, so you are on the right track. And if not, reach out and I can support you in moving forward!
Releasing the search and instead enjoying, celebrating and being grateful for the present is more than enough. A simple dose of consistent action and inner reflection on the path that you are already on will suffice.
UNLIMITED Love + Light,
