Big Picture Thinking

“We have to be part of something larger than ourselves, because our dreams are often bigger than our lifetimes”. Rosalie Bertell

It is so easy to go through life with ourselves as the sun, the moon and the earth. We are the center of our own universe. Our thoughts, our fears, our problems easily consume us and create the suffering we experience day to day.

However, remembering that we cannot be both the sun, the moon and the earth and that we are all part of a bigger picture and process of life can help us to relax and move forward.

It is not only your problems and your daily activities or plans. We are all connected not only to each other but to the planets and to mother nature and there is so much that we cannot see, cannot know and cannot understand using our limited perceptions.

The stress, disappointment, and judgment we often experience is greatly reduced when we can zoom out on our lives and see a greater picture. The anger, sadness and pain can be transformed into acceptance if we choose to believe that there might be a bigger purpose for all the experiences we are having.

Believing that our lives may be divinely orchestrated and that certain happenings were written in the stars may take away the need to blame ourselves, others and life. And the best part is we don’t have to understand it in order to make peace with it. Like the quote above says, it may be bigger then this lifetime.

Get curious about how it feels in your body to believe that you + your life are part of something larger than yourself? If this is true what can you shed? What can you allow?

Take a moment today to breathe deeply and imagine yourself taking a trip to outer space. Imagine seeing your home from above, your city from the sky and then allow yourself to float up higher and higher so that you can see the outline of your country and then the outline of earth, let yourself rest here for a moment.

Practice zooming out on your life and your problems daily in order to remember there is more, even if we don’t know or understand what that more is.

Peace,  love and light,

Orly
